Andros Apartment rental - Overview
Andros is the most Northern and second biggest (after Naxos) of the Cyclades islands... There are many daily ferries between Rafina (20 minute drive from Athens E.Venizelos airport) and Gavrio, Andros’port, 2 hours away.
Andros is famous, for its numerous unspoiled beaches, its architecture, its restaurants, and its museums. It is also known for providing Greece with many famous commercial shipping entrepreneurs.
About Stenies:
The very green and picturesque village of Stenies, perched on the hills overlooking the bay of Kato Yialia is where most of Andros’s shipping magnates come from. It is a no-through traffic village. Cars are parked in the village public car parks and houses are accessed by steps and paved footpaths.
Stenies is only 7 minutes away by car from Hora, the capital of Andros, whereas the beaches of Kato and Pera Yialia are within walking distance
About the house:
The stone-built house was constructed in the 1920’s. It consisted of two semi-detached two-storey residences. After a 4-year extensive renovation, the house now consists of one large first floor open plan flat of 130m2 and two ground floor flats of about 55m2 each which are offered for rental.The fully furnished ground floor flats are of identical layout and each consists of one bedroom with double bed, a large sitting room with a double sofa-bed, a dining room leading to an open kitchen and a shower/wc room. The entrance to each flat is from an east sea-facing verandha, very spacious to sit out to eat and drink and enjoy the panoramic views of the village and the sea. These flats sleep comfortably 4 people. A double airbed is available on request and can easily be laid in the dining room.

Stenies is one of the most special places I've been. There are no cars allowed into the heritage village which is bliss. I went with a friend and we were both in need of serious relaxation and detachment from the hustle and bustle of London life. It was just what the Dr ordered. We awoke on day 1 to the sound of the nearby church bell tower. We flung open the shutters with sunshine pouring in. All you can see for miles is the shimmering sea. No other foreigners in sight, delicious food, no pumping pop music (except at the beach immediately down to the left, over the hill but that was the only one) The locals are completely charming and welcoming. One of them actually took us on a day trip around the island in his land rover with his dog, showed us where he was born, took us to a traditional folk party. Pretty unusual! It's a million miles from Mykenos that's for sure.
